Wolf Steel Ltd. currently has the following opportunity available:
Title: Senior Buyer
Reports to: Purchasing Manager
Commodity: Hearth and HVAC
Based at: Wolf Steel Ltd., Barrie ON
Job Purpose:
The Senior Buyer will be responsible to source qualified suppliers in addition to collaborating with Research &Development and Quality Assurance. The incumbent will negotiate price and lead times and participate in cost down initiatives for the Napoleon Group of Companies all while maintaining and supporting the goals of the Purchasing Department.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
•Source new vendors and issue RFP's as required
•Work with the Trading Company where necessary
•Create and manage the approved vendor list to ensure accuracy
•Maintain supplier files of primary, secondary and alternative suppliers for future and potential sourcing of materials.
•Manage and conduct pre-qualifications including capacity reviews for new vendors and existing as well as on-going vendor audits on existing vendor base
•Vendor Performance Management including ownership of the Score Card Process with QA
•Ensure supplier issues are resolved from a purchasing perspective. Work closely with QA on vendor issues/ audits /CAR's, etc. and manage the RMR process
•Contract management - ensure contracts are in place as necessary
•Source secondary sources of supply for critical and large volume products as necessary.
•Standard cost updates in Visual as required for both material and service cost
•Follow the Stage Gate Process for new product development and attend meetings as required
•Order and expedite samples and prototypes for engineering runs. Gather up specs/drawings, forecasts, etc. required for sourcing and pricing
•Participate in cost down projects both locally and internationally
•Additional responsibilities as required
Education and Experience:
•College Diploma; plus Purchasing courses, Purchasing Certificate and working towards SCMP
•Minimum of seven (7) years buying experience in a manufacturing environment
•Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
•Proficient with ERP and/or MRP, Visual Manufacturing preferred
•Project Management Training and experience. Strong technical background in fabrication, stamping, molding and electrical components is preferred
