Wolf Steel Ltd. currently has the following opportunity available:

Title: Lab Technician

Reports to: Product Manager Electrical Fireplaces

Core Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday

Based at: Wolf Steel Ltd. #9   (9 Napoleon Road, Barrie, ON)

Job Purpose:
Work within the Product Design Team to fabricate new product designs and configurations using the latest tools and design principles.  Ensure products meet customer needs, safety standards of various jurisdictions, and the manufacturing capabilities of the organization. Participate in all aspects of design and testing. Construct, test, evaluate and update current and new company products. 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
•Fabricate parts for new prototypes, working with CAD designers to ensure parts can be easily fabricated
•Build prototypes for new products, working with designers to build robust designs that are easily assembled
•Test prototypes for function and compliance to required standards
•Provide production department with technical support
•Coordinate with independent test labs to certify products for various markets
•Testing of new products, resolution of field issues
•Resolve testing issues
•Create and assemble parts for new products and prototypes generated from drawing or verbal instruction, blanking parts for new products
•Generate paperwork for document testing for strategic planning, grant, and tax application
•Maintain and calibrate  lab equipment
•Work independently or in conjunction with the Hearth R&D team

Education and Experience:
•Must have High School Diploma, plus three to five (3-5) years related work experience
•College Diploma or University Degree in Engineering Technology is considered an asset
•Three to five (3-5) years’ experience in gas products and applications is considered an asset
•Trouble shooting the operation of equipment to isolate issues  and/or sheet metal parts manufacturing (shear and brake press forming) and product assembly is an asset
•Basic gas theory is considered an asset
•Experience with gas products and combustion testing is considered an asset
•Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook), strong internet skills
•Knowledge of FEA and PFMEA is considered an asset
•Familiarity with standards and testing procedures (CSA, UL, CE)  is considered an asset
