Title: Technical Writer

Status: Contract, duration approximately 1 year

Reports to: Manager R&D Grills

Shift: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday

Based at: Wolf Steel Ltd. #214

Job Purpose:
Work within the Product Design Team to assist in new product designs and revisions to designs using the latest tools and design principles. Create product manuals which meet customer needs and comply with the safety standards of various jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Design and develop accurate and clear product manuals that meet the customer’s needs and comply with the required safety standards. This includes compiling multi language manuals for export markets
• Update and revise product manuals and labels with new or revised information
• Create and maintain schedule, ensure timelines are followed as per launch or change notice procedures
• Distribute manuals and labels to other departments, translator and suppliers as required
• Maintain revision and dates in Visual, master lists
• Organize revision changes and ensure updates are made accordingly in timely fashion
• Create descriptive graphics for instructions using illustrations and photographs
• Assemble or position parts as required to help understand and illustrate instructions
• Perform hands on lab work, such as testing, assembling and packaging of product when called upon to do so
• Grow knowledge of LEAN including continuous improvement of current processes and procedures

Education and Experience:
• Must have a College Diploma or University Degree in Technical Writing
• 2 years related experience
• Product knowledge is an asset
• Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Technical writing software such as InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience/understanding of ERP system, Infor Visual software is considered an asset
• SolidWorks Composer experience is an asset
• Technical writing and experience creating manuals
